BT broadband 16Mb network upgrade
BT continues to invest in its broadband infrastructure. By 2013, 90% of households in the UK will be able to access BT's ADSL2+ - or double-speed copper wire - network by next year, delivering download speeds of up to 16Mb.
BT's broadband packages come with two different download limits - 10GB or unlimited broadband, and unlike many providers, this is truly unlimited and not subject to throttling or traffic management.
BT has developed a broadband checker tool so you can see what speeds BT offers in your area before you sign up for a package. Visit www.BT.com and enter your postcode or phone number to see the results of a test of BT broadband connection speeds near you.
From £5 per month customers can add BT's TV service YouView to their broadband package. On top of that you can pay for unlimited access to on-demand TV and movies, including Vision Film, Vision Kids, Vision Music.
BT Sports - BT Sports 1, BT Sports 2 and ESPN - is included with BT TV packages at no extra charge for BT broadband customers, or for a fee for non-BT broadband customers. You can also subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and 2 as an extra as long as you live in an area where BT Infinity is availiable, which you can find out by visiting www.BT.com.
BT Infinity 38Mb connection
BT offers three fibre optic broadband packages, which deliver download speeds of up to 38Mb, up to 76Mb and up to 100Mb.
The 38Mb package comes with upload speeds of up to 9.5Mb and a 40GB usage allowance.
BT's fibre network is already available to over 40% of UK households. BT aims to make fibre broadband available to two-thirds of the UK by the end of 2014.
BT Infinity 76Mb upgrade
In 2012 BT doubled the download speed of its up to 38Mb fibre broadband to up to 76Mb. This means BT customers, and customers of other broadband providers that use BT's network, will have a choice of superfast speeds.
BT's up to 76Mb package also offers up to 19Mb upload speeds and comes with an unlimited usage allowance.
BT Infinity 100Mb broadband
BT also offers an ultrafast service using fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology which provides download speeds of up to 100Mb and speeds up to 15Mb upload speeds. BT's 100Mb package also comes with an unlimited usage allowance subject to BT's fair usage policy.
BT Broadband benefits
As well as its standard broadband service and free BT Home Hub wireless router, BT also offers an extensive range of added extras, including mobile broadband, free wireless broadband minutes, free internet security, online backup and storage and access to the BT Fon network of wireless hotspots.
Customers who originally signed to BT's up to 8Mb connection can upgrade to BT's ADSL2+ network at no extra cost by signing a new contract with the ISP, providing their local exchange has been upgraded to offer the new speeds.

Our expert's verdict
Michael Phillips, broadbandchoices managing director, said: "BT (www.BT.com) is never going to be the cheapest broadband provider, but it does offer a host of free extras that add to its value and make it a good family ISP. The BT Sport platform is also a market changer - offering free sports channels, including a number of Premier League matches, to BT broadband customers.
"However, BT is not a good choice for anyone looking to do a lot of peer-to-peer downloading as it does block certain ports which could restrict your access."
