About Direct Save Telecom
Direct Save Telecom launched in 1999 aiming to offer "a dependable and reliable service" without a contract. It offers rolling 28-day broadband plans - perfect for customers who only need broadband for a short time, or who simply don't want to commit to a long contract.
Direct Save Telecom broadband services
Direct Save Telecom offers what it believes to be the "UK's best value broadband deal". The deal offers download speeds of up to 24Mb - typical speeds are around 14Mb - and 20GB data usage for £2.49 per month.
This deal is a 12-month broadband and phone package which includes evening and weekend UK phone calls.
Direct Save Telecom offers three no contract broadband packages:
- Basic - 20GB usage limit
- Family - 60GB usage limit
- Pro - 100GB usage limit
Each package has three landline call charge options:
- Option 1 - free weekend calls
- Option 2 - free evening/weekend calls
- Option 3 - free anytime calls
Each package offers download speeds of up to 24Mb - again typical speeds are around 14Mb. Extra usage outside of your allowance is charged at £5 per 5GB, or £1.45 per 1GB.
A Direct Save Telecom landline must be taken with all Direct Save Telecom broadband packages, which costs £16.24 per month for contract broadband or £13.75 per month for no contract broadband. Line rental is cheaper if 12-months is paid upfront with a one-off payment.
All Direct Save Telecom broadband packages are also subject to a £24.95 set-up fee.
Direct Save Telecom benefits
Direct Save Telecom claims that it offers the cheapest broadband package in Britain and, with its 12-month contract costing just £2.49 per month, it's certainly an eye-catching deal.
However, Direct Save Telecom's biggest draw is its no contract broadband packages, which allow users to cancel at just 28 days' notice without having to pay any penalty.
Our expert's verdict
Michael Phillips, managing director of broadbandchoices, said: "Direct Save Telecom is a good choice for anyone looking for a short contract broadband package that offers a faster, more reliable download speed than mobile broadband.
"BE Broadband (www.BEThere.co.uk) also offers three month contracts, but these usually cost more than Direct Save Telecom's Basic or Family packages."
