About EE broadband

EE (www.ee.co.uk) is a mobile network operator and broadband provider also known as Everything Everywhere. It was formed as a product of the merger of T-Mobile (www.T-Mobile.co.uk) and Orange.

EE offers a wide range of products including home broadband, mobile broadband, home phone deals and contract or pay-as-you-go mobile phones. Following the launch of its 4G mobile service - the first in the UK - EE has found itself in the spotlight.

The EE broadband service

EE offers both fibre broadband and standard broadband packages. It has two fibre connections delivering either up to 38Mb, or up to 76Mb, both of which come with an unlimited usage allowance. The standard broadband connection delivers up to 14Mb connection speeds and also allows unlimited date usage.

With the unlimited broadband packages you can download as much as you like without having to worry about going over a usage limit or falling foul of a fair usage policy. However, EE does slow certain types of web traffic, such as file-sharing, at peak times to ensure consistent speeds for everyone on the network. Check out the broadbandchoices guide to traffic management for more information.

EE broadband customers will have a choice of 2 calls options - weekend (unlimited weekend calls) or Anytime+ (anytime landline and mobile calls), and must take line rental from the supplier too.

EE, T-Mobile and Orange mobile customers in the EE network area can enjoy a £5 discount on the monthly package charge regardless of the package they take.

4G mobile broadband

EE also launched its 4G mobile broadband connection in 2012 - the first provider to offer a 4G mobile service in the UK - providing superfast mobile broadband.

For some, its speed might even make it a viable alternative to a fixed broadband connection. See the broadbandchoicesEE mobile broadband guide for more information about 4GEE.

EE broadband benefits

EE's range of products means that you can bundle your broadband with up to three other services, and even take line rental from EE too.

All EE broadband packages now include the Bright Box wireless router as standard. The Bright Box is the most powerful router EE has ever had. It's capable of offering a wireless signal range of up to 250 metres and features "intelligent wireless".

This enables users to switch all the devices accessing the router wirelessly to the channel with least signal interference, which can be caused by other household electrical items.

If you're an existing EE, T-Mobile or Orange mobile customer you'll be able to get a £5 monthly discount on your broadband each month.

Just like EE mobile phone customers, the provider's broadband users can also take advantage of Orange Wednesdays, which offer two for one cinema tickets, as well as a free film from iTunes every Thursday.

EE deals and offers

  • 3 months FREE + free installation on all fibre broadband packages - after 3 months you can keep your fibre connection or switch to standard broadband - offer exclusive to Orange T-mobile and EE customers. Offer ends 30th June.

EE broadband awards and accreditations

In the broadbandchoices Customer Satisfaction Awards 2012, Orange - now EE - won the Most Improved award and was highly commended in the Value for Money and Additional Customer Benefits awards categories.

Our expert's verdict

Michael Phillips, broadbandchoices managing director, said: "EE has found itself in the spotlight following the launch of its 4G services, and EE's fibre connections make its fixed-line broadband an option worth considering too.

"EE allow customers to bundle broadband with other services, like mobile phone, mobile broadband and home phone, and the truly unlimited downloads make it a good choice for families, or heavier users like gamers or film fans."
