Sky Broadband (www.Sky.com) offers more than just satellite TV; over the past few years it has grown to become a huge triple play provider, offering home phone and broadband as well as its traditional digital TV channels.
Customers taking its digital TV and signing up to Sky Talk can even get “free broadband”.
Carry out a Broadband search for your household or read our review of UK "free broadband" offers - are they worth it?

Obviously you can’t just sign up for the free broadband and never pay anything to Sky. To take any Sky broadband package you have to be a Sky TV customer, so you essentially pay for your broadband through your TV subscription. And you’ll also have to pay an installation fee - the standard cost of this is £30 but there are often special offers available that can reduce this cost.
If you sign up for free Sky broadband with your digital TV you’ll get a connection of up to 2Mb, and a free wireless router. However, your usage will be capped at only 2GB, which is only really suitable for low-level users who want the internet for everyday surfing and emails with little downloading or streaming from sites like the BBC iPlayer.
To qualify for the free broadband, you will also have to sign up to Sky Talk. If you don’t want this, you will have to pay £5 a month for your Broadband Base package.
If you want a faster connection, or a higher download limit, you can choose to pay for your Sky broadband. For an additional £5 a month you get an up to 10Mb connection and a download limit of 10GB, or for an additional £10 a month you can sign up to the UK’s only truly unlimited broadband package with speeds of up to 20Mb.
As well as being able to take advantage of special offers and money off on installation, Sky offers all customers a free wireless router - allowing you to wire in up to four computers, and connect many more wirelessly.
All Sky broadband customers also get a free McAfee internet security trial, 24-hour technical support and 10 free email addresses.
Sky Broadband won the Best Bundled Provider at the Broadbandchoices.co.uk customer satisfaction awards 2009.
Because you have to take Sky TV in order to get its broadband anyway - and Sky Talk to qualify for free broadband - it makes sense to go for a triple play bundle, which start at just £19 a month.
There’s also a range of other bundling options available to incorporate premium channels like Sky Sports and Sky Movies, or different phone and broadband packages, so check out their website for all the latest deals.
However, you will to take Sky line rental as well, so remember this when working out costs, and make sure that you allow for the additional £11 a month that this will cost you.
Use our Broadband Comparison Calculator to find out if Sky broadband is available in your area, and to compare it against other offers on the market.
Remember though, that when the analogue signal in your area is switched off - if it hasn’t been already - you'll have to think about switching to digital.
If you haven’t done so yet, taking a Sky TV package with broadband might be the right choice for you. However, bear in mind that if decide to cancel your TV service at any point, your broadband will be affected too.
