TalkTalk in top five for consumer ADSL
TalkTalk has entered the top five UK performing consumer ADSL providers, according to a new report. (visit www.talktalk.co.uk)
The first quarter 2007 Internet Performance Indicator (IPI) Report from Epitiro (a UK Customer Experience Management (CEM) provider for Internet access services) lists the top five as:
BT has come top of the poll for the last four Epitiro reports, but this is the first time TalkTalk has been recognised in the top five.
The results were calculated by Epitiro’s customer experience monitoring and competitor benchmarking service ISP-I (pronounced “eye spy”). This monitors the ADSL services from the ten largest competing providers, collecting 634,392 real-time data samples from eleven locations around the UK. Its results are based on the speed and reliability of connections, how long it takes to connect initially, and other technical performance factors.
Whilst the data provides an interesting indication the results do not reflect customer satisfaction or customer service ratings. Furthermore, many of the UK’s smaller ISPs flagged in an earlier BBC Watchdog Broadband Survey were not tested as part of the ISP-I survey.
Chris Eagle, Commercial Manager at www.broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: “It seems that TalkTalk’s recent investment in infrastructure is paying dividends. The results also show that BT continues to perform well, at least technically, despite the growing frustration of some of its customers, seen on our forums. Perhaps BT should concentrate more on its public image and keeping customers happy.”
