About Tesco Broadband

Tesco is a huge retailer, offering everything from groceries and homewear to clothing, insurance and broadband.

Its packages offer great value for money and allow you to collect Clubcard points at the same time.

The Tesco Broadband service

Tesco doesn’t offer any standalone broadband packages. Instead, it offers two money saving bundles that allow you to take your broadband, home phone calls and line rental from the same provider on one low bill.

Both of its packages come with up to 20Mb broadband and “unlimited broadband” downloads, subject to a fair usage policy.

Each package also comes with a home phone calling plan and you can choose from either evening and weekend calls or anytime calls, plus line rental at £11 a month.

Its packages cost £8 a month for 20Mb broadband with evening and weekend calls, or £12 a month for anytime calls - giving you a total of just £19 or £23 a month for both services plus line rental.

Tesco Broadband benefits

Tesco’s call centres are UK based and calls to its 0844 technical support and customer care number are free during your inclusive calls period.

Line rental is cheaper than many big broadband competitors and you also get a free, preconfigured wireless router when you sign up.

As part of the Tesco catalogue of products, you can even collect Clubcard points on your broadband bills, giving you one point for every £1 you spend.

Our expert’s verdict

Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “It’s always encouraging to see a trusted brand such as Tesco enter the bundled broadband market.

“While Tesco’s new packages are competitively priced, there are cheaper offerings on the market. But the UK-based call centre, unlimited downloads and Clubcard points will appeal to many consumers.

“It’s always important to compare bundles that suit your specific needs. While Tesco’s monthly line rental is very keenly priced, it does charge for 0845 and 0870 numbers which are free from its peers such as BT Broadband (www.BT.com) and TalkTalk Broadband (www.Talktalk.co.uk).”

Just over 2 years ago I was with Tesco Broaband on a Pay as you Go scheme. When I changed to a laptop that is on Vista I was told that Tesco did not cover Vista and so I had to change to Tiscali. However, I would like to know if Tersco now accept Vista and if I can go back with them. Please let me know. Thank you. - Feb 17 2010 5:04PM
