Tesco is to re-launch its broadband service and offer new bundled home phone and broadband packages.
Retailing giant Tesco is challenging the home broadband giants by re-launching its broadband service with competitive prices and “best in class” customer service.
Tesco, the UK’s biggest supermarket group, has signed a five-year deal with Cable & Wireless in attempt to become a leading UK provider of home telecoms.
Lance Batchelor, ceo Tesco Telecoms and Tesco Mobile, said of the Cable & Wireless deal: “We share a commitment to providing excellent customer service and the new network capabilities will allow Tesco Broadband to offer enhanced services for our customers across the UK.”
Jim Marsh, ceo Cable & Wireless Worldwide, said: “We’re absolutely focused on putting our customers’ requirements at the heart of our business and delivering great service - clearly, this is an approach that resonates with Tesco.”
Package details and prices have not yet been unveiled, but Tesco is pledging to bring simplicity, service and value to the market.
Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: “Our research shows that customer service is key for phone and broadband customers.
“Tesco’s ambitious plans for broadband and bundled services bode well for consumers since it should increase competition in the market and put pressure on all internet service providers to focus on customer service.”
