Tiscali launches TV service
26-02-07 - Tiscali TV, a new TV service from the broadband ISP, launches on March 1st 2007, when over 40,000 current Homechoice subscribers will become Tiscali TV customers. Visit www.tiscali.co.uk
Tiscali TV is currently available in London and Stevenage but its network will be extended to Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle during April and May. Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool will be covered by mid-2007. It will be able to reach over 10 million UK homes by December. The roll-out will continue throughout 2008, eventually reaching Tiscali’s entire unbundled local loop network.
Chris Eagle, Commercial Manager at BroadbandChoices, says: “This is exciting news from Tiscali, which will put pressure on Sky Broadband and Virgin Media (formerly ntl:telewest) with such a competitive price of £19.99 for TV, broadband and phone calls.”
Tiscali TV offers over 30 digital channels and a ‘Replay or Catch-up’ service, which records over 50 hours of BBC programming per week. It provides another 100 hours of on-demand programmes, and over 1000 pay-per-view movies.
The package is free to all Tiscali customers with 2Mb broadband in the areas listed above. They can upgrade to the ‘Big Pack’, which offers a further 25 channels and 1000 hours of on-demand programming. There are optional music and kids’ TV packs.
Tiscali also offers a ‘triple play’ bundle - £19.99 per month for 2Mb broadband, TV, line rental and unlimited weekend phone calls. There are also plans for a new set-top box with a personal video recorder and HD capability.
