Tiscali Price Cuts
(20-06-07) - Tiscali has announced a reduction in the cost of its 1Mb broadband, only a fortnight after telling LLU customers that they could get free line rental on Tiscali bundled packages.
Their 1Mb broadband will go down from £9.99 to £7.99 for the first three months and £12.99 thereafter.
At the same time, certain customers in connected to Tiscali's Local Loop Unbundled (LLU) service could receive free line rental as part of a promotion to encourage people to sign up to their home phone and broadband bundles.
However, this will mean that customers not in LLU areas will pay almost £100 a year more than those connected to an unbundled exchange - for exactly the same service.
Chris Eagle, BroadbandChoices.co.uk commercial manager said: “While many people will welcome these potential savings, a trend is emerging where LLU customers are paying less for their broadband, creating a ‘postcode lottery’.
“We don’t want to create a digital divide but it seems inevitable that rural areas will be left out of the best deals.”
