Virgin Media’s National Broadband service offers Virgin Media broadband through your copper wire phone line, meaning that even if you don’t live in one of the ISP’s cable areas, you'll still be able to sign up to one of its broadband packages, or home phone and broadband bundles.
However, you won’t be able to sign up to its superfast broadband at speeds of up to 50Mb - this package is only available over its cable network.
All of Virgin Media’s National Broadband packages come with speeds of up to 20Mb, with each package offering a different monthly download allowance - ranging from 10GB a month on its M package to 40GB on its L package and “unlimited broadband” downloads on its XL package, subject to a fair usage policy.
National Broadband customers also get all the same extra benefits as the ISP’s cable customers - free online storage, automatic file backups, PC Guard security and even a set number of free digital prints each month.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “Price-wise there is not a huge amount of difference between Virgin Media’s National Broadband and BT Broadband (www.BT.com), one of its main competitors.
“Though the added extras offered by V Stuff add value to the packages, we would recommend Plusnet Broadband (www.Plus.net), which has received a lot of positive reviews on BroadbandChoices.co.uk as well as a host of awards, to customers looking for a reliable, cheap broadband service.”
