This deal is great for a light user with just enough data to browse web pages and send emails. You can always increase your allowance if you find that's not quite enough for you.

You'll also benefit from all the cool features the 5S has to offer: an 8MP camera, Siri, and a handily sized 4-inch display.

If you think you'll be using a lot of internet data then we suggest that you go for an plan with Three. If you have a 4G-compatible phone - the iPhone 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, or 6s Plus - you'll be able to use 4G, and you can use your plan abroad in any of Three's Feel At Home destinations at no extra cost too.

We recommend going for the iPhone 5S because its processor copes extremely well with the pressures of non-stop downloading, uploading, browsing and streaming.

iPhone 7 deals

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are the newest iPhones of them all, released in September 2016. Thanks to an improved design, these are the only iPhones that are water resistant, and they've got better cameras than ever before. Deal-wise, you'll want a plan with plenty of data so you don't have to hold back on using this wonderful phone.

Neither phone are officially released until 16 September, but pre-orders open from 9 September - including contract plans.

If you're looking at buying the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus then we recommend that you go for a plan that allows you to get the most out of the handset. We recommend a large data allowance so you can enjoy watching movies and videos on the device.

These deals are great because not only do you get lots of data, you'll also get unlimited calls and texts, so you can talk all month to your heart's content. The upfront costs aren't high, and even the monthly costs are reasonable considering you'll be getting the latest iPhone with tons of data.

To get a lower monthly cost on an iPhone, you may have to compromise on your monthly allowance. The amount of data and calls offered here, however, isn't bad at all - well worth it, in our opinion.

With a 128GB handset, you'll definitely want lots of data - and luckily, most deals on the phone include that. We like this deal because of its low upfront cost and the big allowances on data, texts, and calls. Go ahead and download as many movies, songs, and apps as you like - both the phone and your plan will allow it.

Best iPhone 6 deal today

The iPhone 6 is a mobile that benefits from a heavy data allowance too. The HD screen is perfect for streaming video on, especially if you go for the larger iPhone 6 Plus, and the 8MP camera can take some fantastic photos to share online. Along with Touch ID and the smooth iOS, this is a phone you won't want leaving your hand.

Today's best offer on the iPhone 6 (and 6 Plus) is this deal. There's plenty of data to see the average user through the month, and unlimited calls and texts, all on a monthly cost with very little to pay upfront. And it's 4G, so downloads will be a lot faster.

iPhone 6 for a cheap monthly cost

You'll often find that the cheapest deals over the course of a contract period come with an upfront cost. If you don't fancy paying anything upfront for an iPhone then there are deals out there where the handset comes for free, but there's a bigger monthly cost for the plan. The cheapest way of getting an iPhone 6 without any upfront costs is with this deal.

Best iPhone SE deals

The brilliant thing about the iPhone SE is that it's essentially got the guts and specs of an iPhone 6 in the body of a 5 - and an old-style, smaller phone means it's a lot cheaper than a flagship. It's got the latest processor, a 12MP camera, and decent battery life, all in the nice four-inch frame. The best deal on an iPhone SE is one that keeps costs down but gives you enough allowance to put those specs to work - like this one.

Which iPhone to choose?

Not sure whether it's worth spending a bit more for a 5S than a 5C? Our recommendation is that an iPhone 5S is worth paying a little extra on, but we wouldn't stretch to more than £100 more than an iPhone 5C on the same plan. Check the info below and remember to only pay what you can afford. We think this deal is an absolute gem. It's got the perfect amount of data for the average user, and enough minutes and texts that you aren't exactly going to run out. Price wise, the monthly cost is low, and you aren't shelling out a fortune upfront either.

If you what an iPhone but don't know exactly which model you want, take a look at the table below to compare the main features.

The newest iPhones are the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Whilst the basic specifications don't look too different from one iPhone to another, there are some significant differences between the very latest models and the older versions. As well as a longer battery life, improved camera, better screens and processors, there are some other functions that only come with certain models:

iPhones

Touch ID: Only the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus and 5S have Touch ID functionality. This is a fingerprint scanner, used to unlock your phone and authorise transactions in the App Store.

True tone flash: Most people turn off the flash when taking pictures these days. The standard LED flash leaves an unnatural glare. iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, and 6 Plus come with a flash that's a little more pleasing to the eye.

NFC: Near Field Communication is available on the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, and 6 Plus, and will allow you to pay for things in shops by tapping your phone on (or holding your phone very close to) a terminal in the shop. It's not widespread right now in the UK, but that's likely to change in the coming months.

3D Touch:  This is a brand new piece of touchscreen tech that Apple introduced in its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Touching the display with different levels of pressure performs different actions, giving the default iOS apps better functionality.
