BT Mobile is a relatively new network, but one with big ideas and compelling deals. The provider may be best known these days as a broadband and TV provider, but it has plenty of mobile experience too - BT owns EE, so it uses its expansive 4G network to deliver services.
From BT Mobile you can get both SIM-only deals and a small range of handsets, with enough options to cater to all types of users - whether you're a casual caller or a data-hungry downloader.
BT Mobile's not the provider's first foray into the mobile market. BT Cellnet was one of the earliest mobile networks in the UK, eventually rebranding as O2 when BT sold it off to Telefónica in 2005.
In 2015, BT announced it was coming back to mobile in a big way. How big, you ask? Buying 4G operator EE for £12.5billion big. Now it offers a spread of SIM-only plans and phone contracts, as well as BT Business Mobile services.
BT Mobile has three SIM-only plans on offer. Each one is a 12-month contract, and each gives you unlimited access to BT public Wi-Fi hotspots. Your SIM-only choices are:
As for handsets, BT has a small range of contracts available, but it covers all the basics. You can get all the best iPhones and Samsungs for a start.
And if you have BT broadband you get access to the 'existing customer only' deals, which give you extra savings in the form of £5 off all SIM-only and contract mobile plans.
BT owns EE, and as such uses its network. That's great news for BT Mobile customers, as EE has excellent coverage across the UK. In fact, its 4G coverage is the widest of any UK network, available to more than 75% of the population. 3G is even better, covering 98%.
Of course, as with any network, there will be some areas where coverage is spotty or non-existent, so use a coverage checker if you're concerned about BT Mobile access in your area.
