iD Mobile is part of Carphone Warehouse, and specialises in affordable and flexible 4G pay monthly and SIM-only plans. It uses Three’s mobile network to deliver services.
There aren’t really any perks or extras attached to a deal with iD, but its plans themselves make using your mobile a whole lot easier.
One of the newest networks in the UK, iD Mobile came into being in May 2015. It’s not the first network Carphone Warehouse has launched - it used to run TalkMobile, which primarily focused on super-affordable 3G plans.
iD offers a wide variety of pay monthly plans with a good choice of handsets, as well as SIM-only deals. Plans run the gamut from cheap options with 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB of data per month, all the way up to ones with a hefty 20GB data.
Pay monthly and SIM-only plans are sorted into three types:
GoTo: Simple, flexible 4G tariffs that include a set amount of calls, minutes and data per month. You can get 1-month, 12-month or 24-month contracts - although be aware that the better the phone you choose, the longer the contract term may be.
Shockproof: Designed to eliminate bill shock, these plans give you more control over your monthly spend. To that end, each comes with a £5 cap on calls, texts and data.
TakeAway: Lets you use your monthly minutes, texts and data in 29 countries at no extra cost. Those countries are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and USA.
iD Mobile shares Three’s network, which means its 3G services stretch to more than 97% of the UK population. 4G coverage is less widespread than networks like EE, but it is growing rapidly.
