Online photography platform Flickr has been given an extensive makeover by its owner Yahoo. The improved Flickr came just hours after the company's dramatic takeover of blogging site Tumblr for $1.1billion and gives users a terabyte (TB) of free storage.

Tests reveal actual 4GEE speeds
EE has been named the UK's fastest mobile broadband provider, after new tests confirmed that its superfast 4GEE service is considerably quicker than 3G.According to the RootMetrics study, the average download speed on EE's 4G network is 15.2Mb.
Nokia staff to release rival smartphone
A new smartphone created by former Nokia employees will go head-to-head with the Finnish mobile giant's Lumia range. The Jolla, which boasts a similar, colourful appearance, runs on software known as Sailfish, built from the remnants of MeeGo - a project abandoned by Nokia in 2011.

HTC One makes history on Everest
British explorer Daniel Hughes has put his smartphone to the ultimate test. Using his HTC One, he made the world's first live call from the summit of Mount Everest - also the world's highest ever video call.
Typically, he got through to an answerphone - however, on this occasion it was intentional, enabling his sponsor to record his message from the top of the world.
