EE 4G reaches more UK towns

Superfast mobile network operator EE has extended its 4G coverage to 11 more towns.

The service is being switched on in Aldershot, Basildon, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Hitchin, Horsham, Leatherhead, Letchworth, Stevenage, Warrington and Weston-super-Mare. 4G is now available in 85 UK towns and cities and to approximately 55% of the population.

Amazon brings music AutoRip to UK

Amazon has launched its AutoRip service in the UK, meaning CDs and vinyl bought from the retailer since 1999 can now automatically be streamed or downloaded for free.

Broadband 'up to' speeds miles off

People across Europe are paying for broadband that doesn't match expectations as speeds lag well behind the 'up to' speeds used by providers in their advertising.

A study by the European Commission found the average EU household with broadband receives only 74% of the headline speed of the package they signed up to.

EE broadband gets most complaints

Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has revealed broadband customers are more likely to complain about EE than any of its major rivals.

Its latest report shows EE generated the most complaints in proportion to its customer base at 0.57 per 1,000 customers during the first three months of this year.

4G in South Korea is fastest

A mobile network operator in South Korea has started offering what is thought to be the fastest 4G mobile internet anywhere. SK Telecom's ultrafast service boasts speeds of up to 150Mb, putting the rest of the world to shame.

To put it in context, EE's 4G - the only such service available in the UK at present - offers typical speeds of around 12Mb.
