Watch football on Sky Sports for free!

To celebrate the start of a new Premier League season, fans across the UK will be able to watch free Sky Sports football for the whole first day.

Sky has announced that in August millions of TV viewers will be able to watch free Premier League football on Sky Sports without paying for a subscription.

From August, Sky Sports viewers will have more Premier League football than ever before, with 116 exclusive live fixtures featuring the big head-to-heads and every club at least five times across Saturday evenings, Sunday double-headers, Monday nights and bank holidays.

To celebrate the start of the season, on Saturday 17 August, 2013, programmes from Sky Sports 1 will replace the regular programming on Sky 2 for the satellite provider's existing TV customers and on Pick TV for those with Freeview or YouView.

It means a day's worth of free Sky Sports for millions of homes across the UK.

Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "It's our biggest ever Premier League season and we're inviting every home in Britain to enjoy the opening day.

"All fans can join the action as we launch our new Saturday schedule for the most eagerly-awaited Premier League season in years."

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp added: "There's so much to look forward to with the new football season, including more live Premier League matches on Sky than ever before. This is a brilliant way for everyone to follow the action from the first day."

Since earlier this month, Sky has been offering up to a year's free broadband to customers who take a Sky Sports subscription as part of their satellite TV package.

The limited time offer came in response to the launch of BT Sport, a set of three new sports TV channels available to watch free of charge for anyone with BT broadband.
