New BT Sport shows to feature Neil Warnock, James Richardson and more

As well as adding a host of new programmes, the man they call Colin and AC Jimbo, BT Sport has recruited Gary McAllister and revealed its live coverage will include demonstrations on an interactive playing surface.

BT has added seven new programmes and a raft of new presenters to BT Sport, its new group of sports TV channels, and revealed more details about the BT Sport studio.

BT Sport Live, a nightly sports news and debate show, will feature recently retired football manager Neil 'Colin' Warnock, whom BT rather politely describes as "outspoken" and somewhat bizarrely describes as "popular".

Sunday nights will be European football night on BT Sport, with James Richardson, best known for his puntastic presenting of the Guardian Football Weekly podcast and expert anchoring of Football Italia on Channel 4 back in the day, heading up the cryptically-titled Sunday Night Football.

Away from football, if you can envisage such a thing, Rugby Tonight will provide a weekly dose of rugby analysis, debate and entertainment hosted by presenters Craig Doyle and Sarra Elgan and ex-pros Martin Bayfield and Matt Dawson.

BTSP - short for BT Sports Panel - has been named as the Saturday morning show to be fronted by former Soccer Am and current Sunday Brunch presenter Tim Lovejoy, which will offer opinions, predictions, previews, reviews and "laughs".

The other new programmes are Behind the Music-style documentary series BT Sports Films, weekly Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) news and action round-up UFC: Beyond the Octagon and The Supporters Club, a series that supports disadvantaged people in achieving their sporting goals.

BT has also announced that former Scotland captain Gary McAllister, who played in midfield for Motherwell, Leicester City, Leeds United, Coventry City and Liverpool at club-level, will join BT Sport as co-commentator on its coverage of Scottish football and other top-flight football.

It has been revealed by BT that BT Sport's live sport coverage will feature an interactive playing surface at its studio in the Olympic Park, London, on which football, rugby and other sports will be demonstrated.

Grant Best, senior executive channel producer at BT Sport, said: "BT Sport is absolutely dedicated to giving fans a fresh, authoritative and innovative approach to the sports they love.

"Our exciting line-up of expert presenters and programmes from BT Sport's state of the art studios will reimagine the way fans watch, discuss, debate and absorb sport."

BT Sport goes live on Thursday 1 August, 2013. It's available to all BT broadband customers via and BT Sport App, and to BT TV customers with 12 months or more left on their BT broadband contract via BT Vision+ or YouView from BT set-top box at no extra cost.
