Vodafone call charges could rise by as much as 90%
Millions of Vodafone customers will see the cost of making calls rise by as much as 90% after the mobile network operator announced it was "simplifying" prices. From Thursday 1 August, 2013, Vodafone will switch from charging by the second to charging by the minute, meaning that, for example, the cost of a call that lasts 62 seconds, which currently cost 26p, will increase by 92% to 52p.

Wimbledon soars on social media
This year's Wimbledon was a winner when it came to social media, with the two-week tennis championships being tweeted about 6.6million times on Twitter - more than twice as many times as last year's tournament, according to analysis by technology company IBM. Andy Murray's victorious "Can't believe what's just happened!!!!" tweet was retweeted more than 77,000 times in just over an hour, according to a blog post by Twitter.

Over 40% of EU web users would switch for faster speeds
According to the E-Communications Household Survey, an annual, EU-wide survey of how Europeans use the internet conducted by the European Commission, 45% of European internet users are willing to upgrade their broadband package or switch broadband provider to get higher speeds, with 40% of respondents finding it difficult to access online apps and content due to insufficient speed or download capacity.

Superfast broadband arrives in Norfolk

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, the dust, shock and water-resistant version of Samsung's flagship smartphone, could go on sale in the UK next Monday or even on this Friday, according to Expansys. A spokesperson for the online electronics retailer said: "As always, this could change, but it's the latest and best info we have about this device."
