BT Sport signs Ian Wright and Robbie Savage for new football season

With the new Barclays Premier League season about to kick off, BT Sport has added another two well-known former players to its ever-expanding line-up of pundits and commentators...

BT Sport's announced that Ian Wright and Robbie Savage will be joining it as experts across its football coverage, just a couple of days before the new Barclays Premier League season gets underway.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright will join BT Sport's panel of analysts for live Premier League matches and FA Cup games, as well as featuring in other football programming.

Robbie Savage, the former Wales international and Leicester City midfielder, will also join the punditry line-up and co-host a new Saturday morning show called Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav, alongside BT Sport commentator Darren Fletcher.

The new show will kick off BT Sport's Saturday schedule at 10am, ahead of the Premier League fixture to be shown live that day.

Grant Best, senior channel executive producer at BT Sport, said: "Ian and Robbie have proved themselves to be hugely popular pundits with football fans across the country, and we're delighted to add them to our growing team of analysts.

"Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav is the perfect build-up to the football weekend hosted by true football fans and special guests, featuring the entertaining chemistry and unpredictability you'd expect from the pair."

The new Premier League season gets underway this Saturday on BT Sport, with exclusive live coverage of Louis van Gaal's first league game as Manchester United manager against Swansea City at Old Trafford.

BT Sport recently signed a deal to show up to four exclusively live matches each week from the Portuguese Primeira Liga, meaning it now offer live coverage of six European leagues.

It also shows games from the German Bundesliga, France's Ligue 1, Italy's Serie A and the Scottish Professional Football League.
