Now TV launches contract-free broadband and TV

Sky-owned Now TV has announced that it will start offering both contract and contract-free broadband later this year. The new package gives you either standard and fibre optic broadband, a new Now TV box with built in digital tuner, and access to streaming films, sports or entertainment.

The Now TV Combo - which admittedly sounds a bit like something you'd order at KFC - is designed around simplicity, bundling internet, TV and phone calls together, with prices starting from £9.99 a month - or £27.98 when you factor in the £17.99 line rental.

When you pick it up, you'll have to choose a type of broadband, a phone plan, and a Now TV pass. The exact amount you'll pay depends on the option you pick, but obviously, the faster the internet, and the more inclusive calls you have, the more you'll have to pay.

Three broadband options are available, all of which include unlimited downloads: 'Brilliant Broadband', which offers speeds of up to 17Mb, 'Fab Fibre' (up to 38Mb) and 'Super Fibre' (up to 76Mb). We would have gone with 'Phenomenal Fibre' or something to keep the alliteration going, but whatever - we're not marketers.

There are three phone plans too. Pay As You Use is fairly self-explanatory, while Evening and Weekends will give you inclusive landline calls between 7pm and 7am Monday to Friday, as well as all day on weekends. Anytime Calls… well that one pretty much does what it says on the tin too.

Finally, you need to pick your Now TV pass (or passes). The Entertainment Pass gives you 11 Sky channels and loads of box sets. The Sky Cinema pass (formerly Sky Movies) gives you more than 1,000 on-demand flicks, with a new premiere every day. The Sky Sports pass lets you watch all seven Sky Sports channels - great if you're a fan of the Premier League, Formula One or golf. Finally, the Kids Pass lets you and the little 'uns watch six children's channels, as well as lots of on demand content.

You can get the Now TV Combo either with a 12-month contract, or with no contract at all. The no-contract option does come with a set-up fee - £40 if you have Brilliant Broadband and £50 for the fibre optic options.

Every Now TV Combo comes with a new Now TV box, which now incorporates a TV tuner, so you can watch live TV from channels like BBC, ITV and C4, as well as all the on-demand stuff. It also now lets you pause live TV for up to 30 minutes. If you just want the Now TV box, well good news - you can get it without broadband or phone for £39.99.

We don't have an exact launch day yet for the Now TV Combo, but we do know it's coming soon - 'early July', according to Sky. So in the next few weeks then.
