Broadband and phone provider Plusnet has paid over £6million to customers taking part in its My Referrals scheme. The initiative sees Plusnet customers get cashback on their bills if people they've recommended Plusnet to sign up to one of its packages.
More than 110,000 Plusnet customers have earned money by recommending the provider's products to family, friends and acquaintances, and over 213,000 people have signed up to a Plusnet package on the recommendation of a Plusnet customer.
Currently, if you've got Plusnet Unlimited broadband you earn 50p a month for each new customer Plusnet gets from your recommendations. If you've got Plusnet Unlimited Fibre, you earn 75p a month for each new customer. On average, Plusnet customers refer up to two new customers.
Paula Harvey-Wilson, a Plusnet customer who saves £30.50 a month after taking advantage of My Referrals, said: "For the past 10 years or so I have been recommending Plusnet to different friends and family members as I feel Plusnet is the best broadband provider around and the service is always brilliant."
Plusnet CEO Andy Baker explained that word of mouth continues to be the best recommendation you can get, and this means My Referrals works for both the provider and customer, as "it pays to recommend Plusnet".
If you're a Plusnet customer and you want to get in on the action, log into Member Centre on Plusnet's website and have a butcher's at the My Referrals section on the left. There you'll find details on how you refer people, how much of a discount you get for each particular product or service the people you refer sign up to and more.
