Amazon has confirmed that its one-hour delivery service, Prime Now, is available in Birmingham. Customers in the second city can now purchase around 20,000 items and get them delivered in less than 60 minutes.
Prime Now arrived in the UK in June, but was at first only available to Londoners. Birmingham won't be the last to benefit from speedy deliveries either, as Amazon has already announced plans to bring the service to "additional UK cities" before the end of the year.
Customers in selected postcodes in Birmingham, Tamworth, Cannock, and Lichfield can all choose a one-hour delivery slot at checkout for a one-off £6.99 charge.
It's also included for free as part of Amazon's £79-per-year Prime service, along with access to Amazon's Prime Instant Video streaming platform and Amazon Music.
Amazon UK managing director, Christopher North, said: "Customers in London already benefit from ultra-fast delivery with Prime Now and we are delighted to bring this innovative service to Birmingham and selected postcodes in surrounding areas only five weeks after our London launch.
"Since launching Prime Now, we've seen high demand on everything from essentials such as bottled water, coffee and nappies to must-have products such as the latest video games and devices - all available for delivery in less than 60 minutes."
Amazon has also revealed that its fastest delivery so far was a Netgear Wi-Fi Range Extender, a delivery made to a customer in just 12 minutes.
