One-hour delivery from Amazon Prime Now arrives in the UK

Retail giant Amazon has launched its Prime Now service in the UK, meaning that in certain parts of central London you can receive your delivery within an hour of ordering it.

Over 10,000 items are available as part of the service, withdeliveries between 8am and midnight every day. That means you couldtheoretically purchase a DVD at 11pm and have it arrive the sameevening.

Amazon customers can access the new service by downloading adedicated mobile app for Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire OSsmartphones and tablets.

The option for a one-hour service will be available fordeliveries to particular postcodes, in parts of Zone 1. Those whoqualify must spend at least £20.00 on items and then pay £6.99 fora one-hour delivery, or select a free two-hour delivery window.

Amazon Prime Now initially launched in the US in 2014 and nowserves Manhattan, Miami, Dallas, and Baltimore. London is the firstUK city to get it, but not every resident will be able to use itjust yet, and there are no indications right now that it'll rollout to further cities.

The service was introduced to cover basic essentials such ascleaning goods and food, but there is now a wider range of productsto choose from.

An Amazon Prime subscription currently costs £79 a year andincludes unlimited one-day delivery, unlimited cloud storage, plusaccess to a library of digital movies and TV shows via the PrimeInstant Video streaming service.
