Google Fit finally comes to Android

Months ago, Google announced Google Fit; an application that tracks and reports people’s movement and exercise, to support health and fitness regimes. Now, the firm say the application is finally available on Android phones and tablets.

Google Fit is able to track people's activities, includingcycling, running or walking. Powered by the sensors inside asmartphone, the fitness application captures an individual'smovements (as long as they've got their phone on them). Activitiescan then be analysed to provide users with customised fitness goalsand health tips.

One nice thing about Google Fit is that the company hasmaintained its open stance, and a number of other services canintegrate with the app. For example, software such as Strava,Runtastic and RunKeeper can all be used incorporated into GoogleFit, so if you're fond of a particular fitness app, you probablywon't have to give it up.

What's more, wearable tech like Android Wear smartwatches andheart rate monitors can be used in conjunction with the app for amore complete view of your exercise regime.

Google Fit is available as a free download in the Google Playstore.
