Marcus Brigstocke and Alexis Conran to host new gadget show

Comedian Marcus Brigstocke and Celebrity Masterchef Alexis Conran are set to host a new show about gadgets for Dave called Joy of Techs.

Brigstocke is a bit of a luddite, and a fan of our more basic tech - he quotes the zip and the match as examples of technological genius - but Conran likes "anything with a button on it". Together, they'll test various gadgets and gizmos to see how useful they really are… and probably get into a few arguments in the meantime.

The two of them will take on tasks, games, and hobbies, Brigstocke with his classic analogue know-how and Conran with the use of his gadgets, in a bid to prove their side of the argument and see which approach is best.

"Even if we needed half the so-called "life-hack" crap they produce, most of it is so complicated it rarely works," Marcus Brigstocke said.

"Now poor Alex is obsessed with this stuff and in the Joy of Techs I will take great pleasure in demonstrating to him that it's a waste of time and money. It's going to be fun. I will be setting the timer on my VHS recorder for this series."

Dan Chambers, of the show's production company Blink Films, said: "Marcus and Alexis are… hugely entertaining to watch. Whether they're turning a daily commute into an episode of Wacky Races, destroying each other's tents on a camping weekend or competing to win the heart of a robot girlfriend, the real joy is going to be in watching their friendship being pushed to its limits every week."

Look out for the ten-part series Jot of Techs next year on Dave - Freeview channel 12, Sky channel 111, or Virgin Media channel 127.
