Fox UK is launching a new free-to-air channel, YourTV, on Freeview and YouView next month. It will be the international broadcaster's first ever free-to-air offering, and is aiming to target a primarily female audience.
Fox says YourTV will feature "real-life stories, irresistibleexperiences and thrilling tales" when it arrives on our tellies on1 October. It will rival other daytime and lifestyle channels suchas ITVbe, CBS Reality, and Discovery's TLC.
Jeff Ford, Fox International Channel UK managing director, said:"About 40% of the Freeview audience is 40-plus women and they watchon average 6 hours of free TV every day. There is a lot of marketto go for there."
The new channel will provide 20 hours of TV across the UK from7am until 3am, and launch programmes are expected to include USlegal drama Sharks, cooking series Baking Good Baking Bad, realityshow Don't Tell The Bride, and crime drama Corrupt Crimes.
Fox International Channels UK, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch,currently only operates in the pay TV sector with channelsincluding Fox, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, and BabyTV. YourTV will be its first new channel launch for more than adecade.
