Plusnet home phone packages

Plusnet offers three home phone options alongside its Essentials Broadband, Unlimited Broadband, Essential Fibre and Unlimited Fibre packages. They are:

Plusnet Weekends: gives you inclusive calls to UK landlines, 0845 and 0870 numbers at weekends, free calls to other Plusnet home phone customers, and free technical support calls.

Plusnet Anytime: inclusive calls to UK landlines, 0845 and 0870 numbers at all times.  25% off calls to selected international destination and free technical support calls.

Plusnet Anytime International 300: Inclusive any time calls to UK landlines, and 0845 / 0870 numbers, 300 inclusive minutes any time to 35 international destinations.

Bear in mind that as well as the monthly cost of the phone package, you'll also have to pay line rental.

Should I get a Plusnet phone and broadband bundle?

Plusnet has gained a reputation for delivering value for money with its home phone and broadband packages.

They come with a range of features, including a free wireless router and inclusive calls, and Plusnet has competitive call rates to both international destinations and UK mobiles.

In addition, all phone packages come with voicemail, and 1471 (last caller and withheld number) if you want them.

How to choose a home phone package

When choosing a package, you'll need to consider three things:

When do you make most of your calls?  - If it's at the weekend, you'll likely be fine with the Plusnet Weekends package, but if you're using the phone extensively throughout the week, you could benefit from upgrading to an anytime package.

Where do you call?  - Most people likely make the majority of their calls to the UK - the Weekend and Anytime packages are perfect for them. However, for those who regularly make calls to overseas, the Anytime International 300 package could save you money.

What kind of broadband user are you? - Plusnet offers a range of different broadband packages, designed to suit different types of user. The Essentials packages, for example, are perfect for casual users, who want to use the web to surf, check email, and social media. The Unlimited packages, on the other hand, are suited for heavy users, or large families who will be watching catch-up TV, listening to music and other such activities. Make sure you consider your needs before selecting a package.

What do I need for Plusnet phone and broadband?

Switching your home phone service to the Plusnet is really simple, and can be done in minutes, either online or over the phone.

If you already have an active phone line, there will be no interruption to your service, and in most instances you will be able to keep the same phone number. The features you already have, such as caller ID, will stay the same, and you'll also have exactly the same access to the operator and to emergency numbers.

The switch will be carried out at your local telephone exchange, so an engineer won't need to visit your house, and Plusnet will tell your existing home phone and broadband provider(s) that it will be billing you for your line rental, line services, calls and broadband in the future.

If you don't currently have a phone line, or if you are currently a cable customer (i.e. Virgin Media (, you'll have to have an engineer out to fit a new line. Plusnet should let you know how long you'll have to wait, and associated costs, before you finish the sign-up process.
