XLN Telecom Business Broadband

Got a small business that needs to get connected? Give XLN Telecom a look. What it does best is deliver simple, straightforward business broadband packages with line rental that won’t break the bank.

While it doesn’t offer solutions for large companies - you won’t find complex communications networks here - what it can do is get coffee shops, hairdressers, and home offices online reliably.

What can I get from XLN Telecom?

Essentially, your business can get broadband and line rental. Both are available on their own or in a bundle together, and the bundled-together package can be upgraded to include fibre optic broadband.

Whatever you choose, you’ll get 24/7 UK-based customer service and tech support, and the option to add a subscription to XLN Secure - that’s XLN Telecom’s internet security software - if the package you choose doesn’t already include it.

To find out what business broadband packages are available where your workplace is, enter your postcode into our postcode checker and we’ll show you your options.

Line rental

Need a phone line, but not internet? There are two packages available from XLN Telecom:

  • Basix - Standard pay-as-you-go line rental. Perfect if you only make occasional phone calls, or if you’re more likely to be receiving them than making them.
  • Max - Adds unlimited calls to UK landlines and mobiles.

You’ve also got the option to add extra calling features, including call waiting, call divert, and voicemail.

Broadband and line rental

Of course, sometimes just a phone isn’t enough, and you need to get online as well. Basic ADSL broadband from XLN Telecom is perfect for businesses where daily browsing is essential but superfast speeds aren’t.

  • Basix - Up to 17Mb download speed.
  • Max - Adds unlimited UK landline and mobile calls.

Both include unlimited downloads, multiple email addresses, and online security, and the option to add calling features.

Broadband only

If you need to get online to access your email (or for a quick Facebook break) but only browse a little bit each month, a broadband-only package could be a great way to save money. Bear in mind, however, that you’ll still need an active phone line, whether it’s from XLN Telecom or another provider. And look out for the download limit - if using the internet is vital for conducting business, you don’t want to risk getting caught out before the end of the month.

  • Basix - Speeds of up to 17Mb, and a 20GB per month download limit.
  • Max - Same as above with unlimited downloads and free online security.

Both come with multiple email addresses too.

Fibre optic broadband and line rental

Fibre optic broadband is far speedier than a standard ADSL connection, with download speeds of up to either 38Mb or 76Mb. Both fibre packages come with unlimited downloads, so you don’t need to worry about having to stop work when you hit a usage cap.

These packages are suited to businesses where you use the internet a lot, download big files, hold video conferences, or want to connect a few computers. So it’s great for a small office, a pub that shows BT Sport, or a cafe that offers Wi-Fi to its customers.

The fibre packages are:

  • Basix - Standard fibre optic broadband and line rental.
  • Max - Adds unlimited UK landline and mobile calls.

Again, they also include multiple email addresses, online security, and the option to add calling features.

Business mobile

Business mobile from XLN Telecom is available in SIM-only form. There are two, offering 500 or 700 ‘units’ - which can be used as either a minute or a text, so you can mix them up as you wish. And for mobile browsing, there are data bolt-ons too.

What’s good about XLN Telecom?

  • Designed specially for small businesses
  • More affordable than some business providers
  • Nice range of simple, straightforward packages
  • Landline-only and broadband-only packages are both available
  • Fibre optic broadband is superfast, with speeds of up to 76Mb
  • Unlimited downloads on most packages mean you can transfer files, browser, and stream as much as you need to
  • 24/7 UK-based customer support

What’s bad about XLN Telecom?

  • No options suitable for large companies, big offices, or businesses where being online constantly is essential
  • Lots of common business features are missing - such as cloud storage and synchronous speeds
  • Superfast fibre optic isn’t available everywhere - use our postcode checker to see if your business can get it
  • All packages are only available on 24-month contracts
  • Mobile deals are very limited, and no data is available as standard

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is business broadband?

Business broadband packages are designed to cater for workplaces, including offices, rather than homes. They are typically tailored to support multiple users, and offer additional features such as inclusive website domain names, email accounts, static IP addresses, comprehensive technical support, and more.

  2. What do I need from business broadband?

Every company is unique, and every company will likely need slightly different things from their broadband. There are, however, a few constants that are likely to benefit any type of business:

    • Speed - A dawdling connection will cost you time, money and likely cause widespread annoyance to boot. Check both average download speeds (how long it takes to retrieve data from the web) and average upload speeds (how fast it is send information from your computers over the web) when researching packages.
    • Unlimited usage - In business, you don’t want to be held back by how much you can download. Fortunately, most business broadband providers offer unlimited downloads.
    • Technical support - Many business broadband packages offer comprehensive technical support, so you can get advice, and have things up and running as soon as possible.

That’s where we can help. Simply enter your postcode into our comparison service, and we’ll automatically find the best deals available in your area. Then it’s a simple matter to compare options and find the best package for the best price. Click the package you want, and we’ll send you straight to the right place on the provider’s website. Easy, simple and hassle-free.
  4. Can I use a home broadband connection for my business?

If you have a home office, work as a sole trader, or work freelance, you may find that a home broadband package is adequate for your needs. The important thing is to consider how you’ll use it and the impact that will have. If you’re using your connection for business as well as your family’s personal use, for example, what will this mean for speeds or download limits?

On the other hand, some kinds of business will need the special features offered by a business package. An email server will need a static IP address, for example.

  5. Can I have a second phone line installed?

Yes, it's possible to get a second phone line installed into a property. There are many reasons you might want to do this - getting a business-specific line, or splitting your property into flats or rented rooms, for example.

The cost of fitting a second line will vary depending on who your provider is, and you may have to wait a few days until an engineer is available to do the work. Contact the provider for more information.
