iPhone 15 Pro Max at a glance
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is Apple’s top-end smartphone of 2023, launched alongside the standard iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro.
It comes with a massive 6.7-inch screen that includes the cutting edge Dynamic Island which debuted on 2022’s iPhone 14 pro lineup. iOS 17 comes installed as standard, with other features including an incredible triple lens camera, battery life up to 95 hours for audio playback, and a sleek titanium design. Things are kept ticking by the A17 Pro chipset.
It also comes with USB-C rather than Apple’s lightning connector for charging and a new action button that replaces the old mute switch.
iPhone 15 Pro Max availability
Apple announced the iPhone 15 Pro Max on 12 September 2023. Preorders open on 15th September, with a full release on 22nd September.
The phone comes in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants. It is available in a wide range of colours, including natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium and black titanium.
iPhone 15 Pro Max design
The iPhone 15 Pro Max features a sharp design that is redolent of past iPhones and remains top of the tree when it comes to smartphone style. There’s a contoured finish and titanium edge that replaces the old steel one, bringing the weight down significantly.
The vast 6.7-inch screen has a resolution of 1290 x 2796 pixels, while under the hood it packs the same specs as the iPhone 15 Pro with an A17 Pro chipset. It takes things on from last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, operating at a faster speed, making it great for gaming and streaming in particular.
The main pull is once again the Dynamic Island feature, which allows Apple to drop the notch design for a more nuanced cutout that is great for dual screen use and accessing notifications. This now works in conjunction with the new action button on the side of the phone. Using haptic feedback, it shows you options for silencing, accessing the camera, focus mode and other tasks on the Dynamic Island.
iPhone 15 Pro Max camera
The iPhone 15 Pro Max includes a triple lens camera with a main 48MP lens and an updated 12MP telephoto option that can handle 5x optical zoom. The latter is only found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and is aimed at taking on the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. In short, it promises to be the best iPhone camera ever, at least as of 2023.
4K video recording at 24fps and ProRes 4K at 60fps means the iPhone 15 Pro Max is great for TikTok, YouTube and Reels, while the 12MP front facing TrueDepth camera is primed for selfies and video calls.
What’s the difference between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max?
There are a few key differences between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. These include:
All new A17 Pro chipset
Improved camera with 5x optical zoom
Fresher design smarts, including lightweight titanium finish
Action button for easy shortcuts
Is the iPhone 15 Pro Max worth buying now?
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is an incredible smartphone, arguably the best on the market right now, alongside the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
However, it is very expensive. While its price is unlikely to drop until late 2024, you may want to consider the slightly more affordable iPhone 15, or go for 2022’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is still an excellent handset.
Can I get the iPhone 15 Pro Max with poor credit?
Getting an iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to require taking out a 24 or 36-month contract. So, if you have poor credit, you are unlikely to be able to get one this way.
An, admittedly expensive, alternative, is to purchase the iPhone 15 Pro Max outright and pair it with a cheap, rolling 30-day SIM-only contract, as these tend not to require a credit check.
