iPhone 15 at a glance
The iPhone 15 is one of four devices in Apple’s 2023 range.
With a 6.1-inch screen, a screen that drops the notch for the superb Dynamic Island first found in the iPhone 14 Pro, an impressive dual camera, iOS 17 and an A16 Bionic chipset, it’s a great device that has everything we’ve come to know and love about the iPhone. It also comes with USB-C rather than Apple’s lightning connector for charging.
iPhone 15 availability
Apple unveiled its new iPhone 15 on 12th September 2023, with preorders opening on 15th September and a release date of 22nd September.
It is available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions and comes in blue, pink, yellow, green and black.
iPhone 15 design
The iPhone 15 takes its design cues from the iPhone 14 Pro, ditching the notch we first saw on the iPhone X all those years ago for the Dynamic Island feature first seen in 2022’s iPhone 14 Pro lineup. That means interactive notifications, a cutout for Face ID sensors and a better full screen viewing experience.
The 6.1-inch display features a resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, while under the hood it has the A16 Bionic chipset, which debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro. It’s an undoubted upgrade on the iPhone 14.
The iPhone 15 marks a welcome departure from previous iPhones and promises to be a bestseller.
iPhone 15 camera
The iPhone 15 has a dual lens camera powered with Apple’s Photonic Engine tech, that makes taking snaps even more fun. Especially as the main lens has now been boosted to a much better 48MP, similar to that first seen in the iPhone 14 Pro. The results are crisp, clear and detailed, as good for printing out as they are for social media.
The iPhone 15 Pro offers even more clarity, but at a heftier cost. For everyday use, the iPhone 15 is more than enough.
4K video recording means the iPhone 15 is a powerhouse for social media fanatics, especially those who love TikTok and Reels. The 12MP front facing TrueDepth camera serves up striking selfies.
What’s the difference between the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 14?
There are a number of noticeable differences between the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 14 . These include:
- Updated A16 Bionic chipset
- Improved camera with 48MP main lens for even better images
- New design smarts with contoured edges
- Dynamic Island replaces old school notch
- USB-C replaces old Lightning port
Is the iPhone 15 worth buying now?
The iPhone 15 is an excellent smartphone, with only the Samsung Galaxy S23 and Google Pixel 7 coming close.
It pays to be aware that prices will not drop until another iPhone is released in 2024, so if you are happy to get an older device, you can now get the iPhone 14 for a much lower price.
Can I get the iPhone 15 with poor credit?
If you really want to buy an iPhone 15 and have poor credit, you won’t be able to get one on a regular contract. Instead, you can buy the iPhone 15 outright from Apple and pair it with a cheap, rolling 30-day SIM-only contract. This will be cheaper month by month but will require a hefty outlay to secure the phone.
