The information we collect and how we collect it:

When you use our website or any of our other services we may collect personal information about you.  The type of personal information we collect will vary depending on the services you are using.

• your postcode if you perform an availability check for broadband suppliers in your area; 
• your phone number if you call a supplier's call centre to place an order; 
• your email address if you want to save your comparison results to your email inbox; 
• your email address, current broadband supplier and postcode if you use our broadband speed tester; 
• your email address if you register to receive our email newsletters; 
• your name, address, email address and other personal information if you enter a prize draw or competition; 
• your name, email address, phone number and other personal information if you apply for a reward or special offer; 
• your email address, name, phone number and other personal information if you email our customer services team; and

Most of the personal information we collect will be direct from you when you use the services. We will sometimes use other companies to collect and process your personal information on our behalf, for example, we may use IT service providers or market research agencies. Where we use third parties we will make sure that they commit to keeping your information safe. 

How we use your information:

To analyse and improve our services

We will use information of your visits to our website and how you use our services so that we can devise ways of improving the layout of the website and create new services to make the experience more enjoyable and the website easier to use.  This information also allows us to understand the demand for our services at different times of the day and to make sure it always performs quickly. Additionally, if you have provided your consent for us to do so, we may contact you by email, online, or via the phone to ask you for your direct feedback on your experience of using our website and services. To carry out research

• We will use information of your visits to our website and your postcode (if you provide it) to perform research to help us better understand the geographic coverage and use of broadband, phone or digital TV services in the UK. Legal basis: Legitimate interest to understand the broadband, phone or digital TV market and help us improve our services. 

To provide a broadband, home phone and digital TV availability check

• If you carry out an availability check on our website, we will use your postcode to carry out that check. Different suppliers provide their services to different parts of the country and this is determined by postcode. The postcode check is essential to show you the suppliers that are available where you live. Legal basis: Contract. 

To fulfil an order you have placed

• If you place an order with a supplier on our website (for example a broadband order with BT), we will collect your personal information and provide this to the supplier so they can process your order.  We will also use your personal information to track the progress of a telephone order you have placed. Legal basis: Contract. 

To send you your comparison results

• If you ask us to email you your broadband comparison results, we will use your email address to send them to you and we will keep a record of those results.
• We keep this information for a maximum of 24 months

To send you your speedtest results

• If you ask us to email you your broadband comparison results, we will use your email address to send them to you and we will keep a record of those results. Legal basis: Consent. 

To fulfil a prize draw or competition entry

• If you enter one of our prize draws or competitions, we will use your email address (or postal address) to notify you if you win.  We may republish your name and town of residence if you win but we will not disclose your email address or any level of personal information that would enable any third party to contact or identify you (for example a full name and full area of residence). Legal basis: Contract. 

To fulfil a reward or special offer 

• If you place an order for a product that qualifies for a reward or special offer, we will use your personal information so that you can redeem that reward or special offer. Legal basis: Contract. 

To help you with an enquiry

• If you contact our team by phone or email, we will use your personal information to communicate with you and help sort out your enquiry. Legal basis: Legitimate interest to provide good customer service. 

To tell you about our products and any special offers that may be of interest

• When you provide us with your personal information we may ask your consent (or give you an opportunity to tell us you do not consent) to use it to send you emails on other products and special offers from us that we think will be of interest. Legal basis: Consent or Legitimate interest to show you products and services we think you will be interested in.

We are part of the MONY Group and use a shared IT infrastructure which includes shared technologies, platforms, systems and tools and may share your personal data with other MONY Group entities. 

When you use our website and services we may share your information with: 

• our service providers who help us provide aspects of this service, such as our broadband speed tester  
• address look up providers to confirm your address and auto populate it during the availability check 
• internet service providers. Please note that you will be entering a contract directly with the internet service provider, not us. Your chosen internet service provider will be a controller of your personal information and any use of your personal information when you switch will be subject to the internet service provider’s privacy policy and terms and conditions and we advise you to carefully read them. We cannot be held responsible for the uses to which they use your personal information once you have left our service. 
• our service providers who help us to fulfil offers that you have applied or qualified for, for example if you qualify for any of our incentives or rewards from certain service providers 
• Website and app-hosting services  
• Website optimisation services

How long we keep your personal information 

We keep your personal information for as long as is necessary based on the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of that data, the purposes for which we process it, whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, as well as legal, taxation, accounting and industry requirements and guidelines. We may delete your data sooner if you request erasure, but it may persist on backup or archival media for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes. When the need to keep your personal information ends, we either delete or anonymise it.  

How to change your preferences

We will only send you emails or marketing communications if you have agreed to this but you can ask us to stop at any time. 

All marketing emails have a clear unsubscribe link and if you click it then we will automatically unsubscribe you and you will not receive any further marketing emails.

Your rights 

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:  

• Request access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you (commonly known as a subject access request).   
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you. 
• Request erasure of your personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it (commonly known as the right to be forgotten).  
• Object to processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, or in some circumstances, where we are relying on legitimate interests.  
• Request restriction of processing of your personal data in some circumstances, for example, while we investigate a complaint that the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate.  
• Request data portability whereby we will transfer your personal data either directly to you or to a third party in a machine readable format. This only applies to personal data provided by you that is processed by automated means on the basis of consent or contract.  
• Withdraw consent where we rely on consent to process your personal data.

You will not have to pay a fee to exercise any of these rights unless your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.  

When contacting us, please describe the information you require and make sure that you tell us any email addresses you have used with us, as this allows us to trace all relevant information.  

Depending on the nature of your request, we may ask you for your full name, your date of birth and your full address and documents to allow us to verify your identity.   

We try to respond to all requests within one month but occasionally may extend this by two months if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
