Design
The Galaxy S23 Plus sticks closely to the design of earlier Samsung models and features a large, flat screen that dominates the front of the phone, as well an appealing curved frame.
In keeping with previous Galaxy S editions, the S23 Plus is fashioned from metal and glass. Which means it’s robust and feels genuinely ‘premium’ in the hand.
Display
Like its predecessor the S22 Plus, the Galaxy S23 Plus is home to a large 6.6-inch screen. And once again serves up punchy, sharp colours that really bring games and videos to life.
The screen is made from hard-wearing Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which ensures it’ll easily withstand day-to-day. And will survive the odd drop or two, to boot.
Camera
Advanced imaging capabilities are always one of the key attractions of Samsung Galaxy S phones. The Galaxy S23 Plus is no exception.
The main camera combines a powerful 50Mp wide lens, with 12MP ultrawide lens and 10MP telephoto lens. The result is a camera that excels at close-ups, and handles panoramas with aplomb.
Shots are packed with detail and colour, with pleasingly vivid hues that look fantastic on Instagram and Facebook. Low-light performance is similarly impressive, thanks to large apertures that let in more light.
Around the front, you’ll find a 12MP selfie camera (upgraded from 10MP on the S22 Plus). And for the first time, the front camera offers Super HDR and 60fps video recording to add a professional sheen to your clips.
Specs
At the heart of the Galaxy S23 Plus is a brawny Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chipset. It’s one of the most powerful around and ensures that the S23 Plus handles multi-tasking with aplomb.
Battery life has been improved, too. This time around Samsung has opted for a larger 4,700mAh power pack. That’s 200mAh larger than the Galaxy S22 Plus and should mean you can go a good day and ah half between charges.
And if you do need to juice up your phone in a hurry, the good news is that the S23 Plus supports fast charging.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus worth buying in 2024?
As one of Samsung’s flagship phones for 2023, the S23 Plus is laden with up-to-the-minute features. From its camera to its screen and operating system, it’s every inch a state-of-the-art smartphone.
That said, it’s not cheap. If you’re on a budget you may want to consider 2022’s S22 Plus or S22 Ultra.
Either of which will get you most of the features that make the S23 Plus such a standout smartphone, but won’t make such a dent in your pocket.
What’s the difference between the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus?
The Galaxy S23 Plus and S22 Plus don’t look much different at first glance. But the former is a distinct upgrade on its predecessor. Not least in these key departments:
- Chipset – The S23 features a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for a faster, smoother user experience. And more energy-efficient, too
- Battery – The S23’s 4,700mAh battery is 200mAh larger. Which should translate to longer life and allow you to go longer between charges
- Screen – Although both phones’ screen dimensions are identical, the S23 Plus is brighter, and it performs better in bright sunlight
Can I get the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus with poor credit?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is a high-end phone with a price to match. For that reason, you’ll almost certainly have to pass a credit check to be able to buy it on a monthly contract from a household-name network. Which you’re unlikely to pass if your credit score is poor.
We’d suggest you instead you take a look at older models, which you can pick up SIM-free and off-contract. And you may also want to take a look at our dedicated page for bad credit phones for more advice and to get a clearer idea of your options.
