Fast full fibre broadband from Community Fibre is well worth a look if you're in range of its London-only network. We take a good look at everything else it's got to offer.
What can I get from Community Fibre?
Community Fibre offers a selection of full fibre broadband packages, including a top-of-the-range service touted as ‘London’s fastest full fibre broadband’.
Much like Virgin Media, Community Fibre owns and operates its own network that’s entirely separate from the BT Openreach network used by most providers.
It's this full fibre network that allows Community Fibre to offer download speeds of up to 1Gbps.
All packages come with free installation, unlimited usage and a mesh WiFi router, which creates a stronger signal than standard routers and helps eliminate dead zones around the home.
Because Community Fibre’s network is full fibre and doesn’t use the Openreach network, none of the packages require you to take a landline.
Package | Download and upload speed | Free mesh router | Contract length |
Superfast | 50Mbps | Dual band Mesh Velop | 12/24 months or 30-day |
Ultrafast | 150Mbps | Tri band Mesh Velop | 12/24 months or 30-day |
Hyperfast | 400Mbps | Tri band Mesh Velop | 12/24 months or 30-day |
Gigafast | 1Gbps | 2 Tri band Mesh Velops | 12/24 months or 30 day |
Community Fibre customer service
At the time of writing, Community Fibre is rated 4.9 / ‘excellent’ on Trust Pilot. That makes it one of the UK’s best rated broadband providers.
The company operates a London-based customer support, which is open seven days a week from 6am-10pm. Uniquely, it also offers customer support in French, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish and Somali too.
Community Fibre routers
All Community Fibre broadband packages come with a mesh router. This differs from a standard router, in that it’s not just a single router broadcasting a WiFi signal that’s got to cover your entire home.
Instead a mesh router set-up combines a main router with secondary units called nodes.
The nodes connect to the main unit and rebroadcast the signal, so that the signal is stronger and more reliable throughout the home.
This is a real selling point in large to medium-sized homes or those with many floors, which often suffer from dead spots when a standard router is used
Velop Intelligent Mesh routers are supplied free as standard with all packages. But the top-of-the-range, fastest Gigafast package comes with two additional nodes, so you can ensure a stronger signal in more rooms.
Customers on other packages can add extra nodes for a charge of £3 per month.
