Design

In terms of size, the phone’s display is touted to clock in at around 6.1 inches - the same as the P20 Pro. Big enough, then, to enjoy films and TV shows on its reported OLED panel and play games in super-sharp pixel density.

With three colour options to choose from including Black, Twilight and Aurora, along with a curved display, teardrop notch, and tiny bezels, the P30 will almost certainly be easy on the eye. Plus, unlike its predecessor, its rumored to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is great news for anyone who isn’t a fan of wireless headphones.

It’s been reported that fingerprint recognition has been added under the home screen, too. This means you can unlock the phone more easily, with just a touch of your finger.

Specs and features

As we say, Huawei has proved it can match industry giants Apple and Samsung, especially on the tech front.

Here’s what Huawei is reported to have crammed into the P30:

  • Processor - although not confirmed, rumours suggest the P30 will contain Huawei’s most powerful chip-set to date under its glossy shell - the Kirin 980 - which is the same as you'd find in the Mate 20 too.
  • Battery - we’re hearing reports that the P30 will rock an impressive 3,400mAh battery. If true, this should provide enough power to last the whole day. Plus, seeing as early renders of the phone showcase a glass back, we also expect wireless charging and possibly power sharing.
  • Camera - according to experts, the Huawei P30’s camera setup will consist of four, triple-lens snappers that will sit vertically at the back of the handset, while a 24MP selfie camera sits at the front.
  • Storage - naturally, we expect significant storage improvements from the P20, which means more than 128GB. Likewise, we’re also hearing rumours of between 6GB and 12GB of RAM.
  • 5G Capabilities - In the past few months, Huawei has confirmed that handsets supporting 5G capabilities would appear in 2019. Should we expect, then, the introduction of a 5G phone in 2019? And will that handset be the P30? Watch this space.

Cost

We expect the P30 to be around £599, which actually comes in at around the same price of Apple and Samsung’s ‘budget’ handsets.

As soon as the details are confirmed, we’ll update this page, so don’t forget to come back closer to the phone’s announcement. In the meantime, take a look at some great deals on the latest Huawei handsets by clicking the button below.

Release date

Huawei are expected to officially unveil the P30 and P30 Pro in Paris on March 26, and we reckon the device will go on sale in early April.

Head back to this page closer to the date for the details.

Verdict

We have to say, we’re impressed with all the rumours we’ve heard so far.

Like its predecessor, the phone won’t simply rely on phony allure - it’ll have all the cutting-edge tech under its glossy look, too. And, if previous handsets are anything to go by, the P30 won’t leave you as out of pocket as a new Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone, either.

All that said, if you’re not too bothered about owning the latest handset, the announcement of a new flagship can mean some fantastic deals on older phones too, like the Huawei Mate and P20 series.
