Indeed, when we first heard Samsung were releasing a foldable smartphone, we were eager to see whether or not the device would quickly become a novelty or whether it would, in fact, set the benchmark for phones of the future.

Thankfully, we’re impressed with the cutting-edge features we’ve seen from the Galaxy Fold so far. But is it worth the hefty price-tag?

Let’s take a look…

As you’d expect, when unfolded, the Galaxy Fold looks more like a tablet than a phone. At full size, the screen clocks in at a whopping 7.3 inches, and boasts Samsung’s new internal ‘Infinity Flex’ display which, in a nutshell, makes it feel like you’re opening and closing the device like a book.

Down the middle of the phone is Samsung’s sophisticated hinge system which allows for seamless foldable functionality thanks to a set of clever interlocking gears located under the screen. Downside is, the device looks a little thick when it’s folded so, if you prefer a thin device, the Galaxy S10 might be the better option for you.

All that said, there’s more to this phone than its folding functionality…

Specs and features

Here’s some of our favourite specs and features:

  • Display - as we say, the Galaxy Fold sports a giant 7.3-inch, AMOLED screen that’ll make watching movies and playing games a joy, especially thanks to the phone’s Infinity Flex display with 4.2:3 aspect ratio.
  • Battery - the Fold doesn’t disappoint on the battery-front, either. In fact, it rocks two powerful batteries either side of the device that work together to deliver up to a powerful 4,380mAh worth of juice. Moreover, the device also boasts wireless charging functionality and power sharing.
  • Camera - impressively, the Galaxy Fold has the same camera set-up at the back of the device as the S10 and the S10 Plus; two 12MP, and 16MP cameras at the back, while dual 10MP and 8 MP selfie cameras sit at the front.
  • Storage - the Galaxy Fold provides up to 512GB worth of storage. So, although the phone doesn’t have an expandable storage option, this should be plenty of space for most users.

Release date

The phone will be available in the UK from April 26. Come back to this page in the coming months to find out how to get the best deal.

Although UK pricing hasn’t been confirmed just yet, if the cost of the phone in the US and the rest of Europe is anything to go buy, the Galaxy Fold will set you back somewhere between £1,500 and £2,000.

In the meantime, the release of a new phone can also mean some cracking deals on older models, like the brilliant Galaxy S9.

Well, there’s no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy Fold is an impressive handset with some truly cutting-edge tech and features. Plus, the above specs and features prove the phone is more than a novelty. Downside is, you’ll have to pay a hefty price to get your hands on one.

Fortunately, that’s where we can help. You see, if you head back over to this page closer to the Fold’s release date, we’ll help you find the best deal.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for another impressive Samsung device, without the price tag of the Fold, there’s some great deals available on the Samsung S9 right now.
