The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE offers most of the same features as the highest-end models in the S20 range. But comes at a fraction of the price. Here's what you need to know.
What's the Galaxy S20 FE got to offer?
The FE (it stands for Fan Edition) version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 is a mid-range phone with an awful lot to offer.
Billed as an affordable smartphone that packs in Samsung fans' favourite features, it's got a large, vibrant screen, a powerful processor and a triple-lens camera that's almost as good as the excellent one on the standard S20.
Here we take a closer look at the Galaxy S20 FE's key features....
Galaxy S20 FE display and design
At 6.5 inches, the S20 FE's Super AMOLED display is one of the biggest around on a phone at this price. It's bright, clear and performs really well in bright conditions.
As with most modern smartphones, the display dominates the front of the device. There's no physical home button, which means the S20 FE is pretty much 'all-screen'.
Where the FE differs from the highest-end smartphones in its plastic construction. That means it feels a bit less 'premium', but the compensation is that it's much lighter than most top-of-the-range models.
Galaxy S20 FE cameras
The FE's rear camera array comprises a 12-megapixel (f/1.8) primary camera, 12-megapixel (f/2.2) wide-angle lens and an eight-megapixel (f/2.4) 3x telephoto zoom sensor. So it's missing the S20's 64-megapixel telephoto lens.
The upshot is that the FE isn't quite as capable when it comes to zoomed-in close-ups. But for everything else it's excellent.
Expect shots that are packed with detail and rich colours, as well as good performance in low light thanks to a dedicated Night Mode.
Around the front there's a 32-megapixel (f/2.2) standard, wide lens camera for selfies. Which also compares well with selfie cameras on rival smartphones.
Galaxy S20 FE battery and processor
The FE is powered by a huge 4,500mAh battery. That's the same size as the standard S20. But because it's powering a smaller, less power-hungry display, it lasts longer. You'll easily get a full day on a single charge.
It's also worth noting that the FE supports fast charging at 25W, fast wireless charging at 15W and reverse wireless charging at 4.5W, so you can share your battery with friends and family who are in need of a boost.
A Snapdragon 865 processor keeps everything ticking over and handles demanding online games and multi-tasking with aplomb.
